The Kenya Revenue Authority intercepted 17 kilograms of marijuana worth 680,000 shillings at the Suam border, a crossing between Kenya and Uganda. KRA says security agents arrested the suspect as he was ferrying the substance on a motorcycle. The suspect had been intercepted by a Customs officer on routine patrol at the border, but he then sped off when the officer inquired about the package he was carrying. However, the officer pursued the motorcyclist and handed him over to the police. He is set to be charged in court once investigations are complete. Preliminary reports show that the marijuana, which is believed to have been sourced from Uganda, was destined for Nakuru through a brief stop-over at Kitale.
